Qualifications and Education

Updated: May 20, 2024

I often hear “well if I’d of known, I’d have started a long time ago”, or “I didn’t know you did that”. Those letters after my name don’t mean much to me, but the information and education means the world. I chose each and every one of these to guarantee that everything I’ve done to further my education was in part -to learn how to manage my invisible illnesses better. So you can bet I’m heavily invested in my business. Here’s a few of my qualifications and what they mean to me.

2008- (CPT) The NASM Certified Personal Trainer (CPT) certification is important to because it was the beginning of what would become a lifelong career. It’s a cornerstone in promoting holistic health and fitness practices by equipping me with comprehensive knowledge and skills to guide clients towards their fitness goals. Through rigorous training in exercise science, anatomy, physiology, and program design, I gained the expertise to develop tailored fitness programs that address individual needs, preferences, and limitations. By conducting thorough assessments, setting realistic goals, and providing ongoing support and motivation, CPTs empower clients to achieve sustainable lifestyle changes and optimize their physical health. With an emphasis on evidence-based practices, injury prevention, and client-centered coaching.

2009 (CES) The NASM Corrective Exercise Specialist (CES) certification is instrumental in advancing holistic health practices by addressing movement dysfunctions and promoting optimal physical function. This certification equips me with specialized knowledge and skills to assess and correct musculoskeletal imbalances, postural deviations, and movement limitations. By conducting comprehensive movement assessments, identifying root causes of dysfunction, and implementing evidence-based corrective exercise strategies, I get to help clients alleviate pain, reduce injury risk, and improve overall movement quality. Through personalized exercise programming, targeted corrective techniques, and ongoing support, I can address not only the symptoms but also the underlying causes of movement dysfunction, fostering long-term health and well-being. By integrating corrective exercise principles with other components of fitness training, such as strength and conditioning, flexibility, and mobility work, I was educated on how to adopt a comprehensive approach to health that encompasses physical function, movement efficiency, and injury prevention.

2009 (PES) The NASM Performance Enhancement Specialist (PES) certification is integral to my practice by focusing on optimizing athletic performance and overall well-being. This certification equips me with specialized knowledge and skills to work with athletes and clients seeking to enhance their physical capabilities. By understanding biomechanics, exercise physiology, and sport-specific training principles, I can effectively design evidence-based training programs tailored to individual needs. Through comprehensive assessments, targeted training techniques, and performance enhancement strategies, I help clients achieve their athletic and performance goals while minimizing the risk of injury. By integrating performance enhancement principles with other aspects of fitness training, such as nutrition, recovery, and mindset coaching, I am better able to adopt a comprehensive approach to health that encompasses physical performance, mental resilience, and overall athletic development.

2012 (FNS) -The NASM Fitness Nutrition Specialist (FNS) certification is important to me because it plays a vital role in promoting holistic health practices by integrating nutrition expertise into fitness training. This certification equips me with the knowledge and skills to address not only physical fitness but also the nutritional aspects essential for overall well-being. By understanding fundamental nutrition concepts, conducting thorough assessments, and providing personalized dietary guidance, I aim to empower clients to achieve their health and fitness goals holistically. The emphasis on behavioral coaching and sustainable lifestyle changes fosters a comprehensive approach to health, recognizing the interconnectedness of nutrition, exercise, and overall lifestyle factors. Through evidence-based practices and ongoing education, I am able to contribute to a holistic model of health that prioritizes the integration of physical, nutritional, and behavioral components for optimal wellness.

2014 (BCS) The NASM Behavior Change Specialty (BCS) certification is important to me because it is pivotal in advancing holistic health practices by recognizing the profound impact of behavior on overall well-being. This certification equips fitness professionals with specialized knowledge and skills to facilitate sustainable lifestyle changes and promote long-term health outcomes. By incorporating behavioral psychology principles, motivational interviewing techniques, and strategies for fostering positive habit formation, I aim to empower clients to overcome barriers, set realistic goals, and cultivate healthy behaviors. Through personalized coaching, accountability support, and ongoing guidance, I get the opportunity to address not only physical fitness but also the psychological and emotional aspects of wellness. By integrating behavior change strategies with exercise programming, nutrition guidance, and stress management techniques, I’ve been able to adopt a comprehensive approach to health that acknowledges the interconnectedness of mind, body, and lifestyle factors.
